 1.   Serving on Living & Learning’s Steering Committee (September 2011- to date)

Activities participated:

§  Serving as a LLC friend since 2011 and continues contributing to various LLC activities.

§  Served on LLC Steering Committee (August 2012-2014): Attended 12 LLC Steering meetings and advised on various issues and contributed in organising various activities, such as, organisation of green day, talent show, and essay competition. 

§  Delivered Welcome Remarks on 23.2.2013 at LLC Talent Show.

§  Participated in LLC day (9-10th March 2012) as a LLC friend of hostels in 480, A, B, C. & D by helping in the stall decoration. Also helped in LLC sub-committee “student welfare” by advising on marketing LLC and stall theme.

2. Serving at University of Botswana’s “Open Access” Committee (4 August 2012 - to date).

 Activities participated:

§  2014: Chaired the Editorial Committee (including Call for papers, reviewing the abstracts and papers, and compiling conference proceedings) of the 2nd Open Access National Conference organized by Botswana Library Consortium (BLC), held at Ave Maria Roman Catholic Pastoral Care Centre, Game City Gaborone,  Botswana, 6-7 November 2014.

§  2014: Served on the Programme Committee.

§  2012: Editorial Committee: Chaired the Editorial Committee of the 1st National Conference Co-hosted/ organized by Botswana Library Consortium (BLC) and Office of Research & Development (ORD) 24-25 October 2012.  Under the Editorial Committee the following tasks were undertaken: preparing Call for Papers, attending all the correspondence related to Call for Papers, reviewing abstracts and full papers, and programmed design.  

§  2011: Delivered closing ceremony remarks at a one-day Open Access Workshop, held at CCE at the University of Botswana on 11th August 2011. Open Access Week Commemoration in Botswana (24-28 October 2011): Participated actively in organising the event, preparing and sending invitations to all faculties and follow-ups meetings with them, designed program, helped in choosing the venue, menu and other decorations for launching the event and attended launching at Maharaja on 24 October 2011 and delivered vote of thanks at the launching of the open Access Week. I also attended other activities (presentations, panel discussions, poster shows etc.) at the University of Botswana Library auditorium from 25-28 October 2011.

3. Practical attachment supervision (since 10. 5. 2010 - to date): I supervise assigned students, who do their internship.

 4. Students Advisory (since 2. 8. 2013 to date): I advise students, who come for any advice on the academic programs.

 5. Course tutor (2011- to date): Bachelor of Library and Information Studies (BLIS II), attends all the querries from the students and advises them.

6. Serving on SECAT/Teaching Assistants Committee (2009 - to date): Facilitate photocopying of SECAT form, draw SECAT distribution time-table, allocate work to teaching assistants and ensure smooth SCEAT distribution.

 7. Serving on DLIS strategic planning committee (2009 - to date): Had submitted the “DLIS strategic plan 2013-2016” on 14 December 2012.

During this period, participated in several Inner Wheel projects and activities such as, fund – raising for needy people through selling raffles ticket for Down's Syndrome children, charity luncheon, Golf Club Day etc., always participated in annual ‘Blister for Sister’ Walks, delivered fruits to Old Naledi school, organised Christmas Party for Camphill School and helps in women shelter.

§  Shoe donation for KPS: On 15th September, Inner Wheel donated 65 pairs of shoes and socks to Karakubis Primary School (KPS) on 15th September to donate the shoes and socks.

§  Inter-Societies Ladies Charity Lunch:  Organized an “Inter-Societies Ladies Charity Lunch” on Wednesday 29th October 2014 at Par 5 Restaurant Gaborone Golf Club. The proceeds (Pula 5,000) of the Charity Lunch were donated to SOS Children’s Village Tlokweng for the welfare of SOS Children.

§  Christmas Party for Camphill: Organized a Christmas Party for Camphill School children on 6.11.2014.

§  Card Evening: On 21st March, 2015, the club raised P1, 620.00 at a Card Evening. The proceeds of the card evening were donated to the day care centre in Samochima, which was funded by the Rat Pack.

§  Bedding for SOS Children Village: On 14.5.2015, donated to SOS Children Village in Tlokweng bedding for 8 children (8 sets of sheets, 16 blankets 2 for each bed and 8 pillows).

§  Christmas Party for Camphill School children: On 11.11.2015, organized Christmas Party for Camphill School children and distributed toys and food hampers to all 58 children in addition to party.

 -Vice-President, Gaborone Inner Wheel 2013-2014: participated in all charitable activities of the club including Inter Societies Ladies’ Luncheon; annual ‘Blister for Sister’ Walks to raise fund for the cancer patients; delivery of oranges to Old Naledi School. Led the book-project to establish a Library at the Woman’s Prison in the Village. Donated and helped in organizing toiletry bags for woman in prison.

 4. Art of Living Botswana (2001 – to date): Since 2001, participates in all community service activities, such as, blankets and bed sheets donation and distribution to needy people, 200 mosquito net donation in Maun, Christmas food hampers to Old Naledi children, and donation of 20 toys to Princess Marina Hospital for Christmas. 

 - Sponsored an orphan child for one year school fee with P 11,000.00 per year on 13 May 2012-2014. In 2016 donated Pula 1,000 for food hampers to Old Naledi children. On 6 May, 2017 donated 4 blankets for the needy people through Hospice.

 5.      Roman Catholic Church Christ the King (1995 – to date): contributes to various projects, e.g. gloves distribution to hospitals and hospices; blankets and bed sheets distribution.

 6.      Botswana Hindu Society (1987 – to date): Being the member of the society, I always participate in various projects organised by Botswana Hindu Society; blankets distribution every year, food distribution in Old Naledi numerous times; contribute towards Hindu Temple maintenance, contribute to fund-raising events; and always donate for flood relief funds. Donated Pula 1,000 to flood victims in May 2013; Pula 2,000 for mosquito nets in July 2014, contributed in food distribution in Old Naledi in May 2015 and donated Pula 1,000 for flood victims in 2016 and 2017.

 7. Botswana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and (BSPCA) (January 2011 – to date): As a member of BSPCA, provides the centre with old newspapers on a regular basis to be used for baby kitten and puppies; volunteer in their monthly farmer’s day for fund-raising whenever possible, helps in selling raffle tickets for fund raising, donates old clothes to raise funds for BSPCA and sponsors food for animals. Recently sold tickets and attended fund-raising dinner on 21st April, 2017.

 8. Member, Cancer Association of Botswana (October 2014 – to date): Participates every year in World Cancer Day Walk to raise funds for Cancer Association and participates in all other cancer-awareness activities, such as, cancer awareness and advocacy, Cancer Survival Day, Fund-raising dinner to assist Cancer Association. Recently, on 21st April, 2017, sponsored Cancer Association with P 1000.

 9. Dignity Foundation Trust (January 2015 – to date): Raised funds for “Ladies High Tea Event” held on 12 March 2015 and 16 March 2016 and supports a “girl-child sanitary pad initiative” during 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 by sponsoring a girl for one year.

 10. Ebenezer Child Care Trust: (2004 - to date), a regular supporter to the orphan children school (located in Zambia) a regular supporter to the orphan children school (located in Zambia)  $300-$400 per year depending on the affordability and needs of the school.

 11. Supporting Cow Shelter in District MuzaffarNagar, India (since 2006 – to date): Donating Pula 1,000 per year for cows’ feed and health.

 12. Sankalp Welfare Society, Gurgaon, India, (21.12.2009-2016): Sponsored an orphan child for school fee.

 13. Secretary, Interfaith Society of Botswana (2006 -2008).

14.  Member of Botswana Women Shelter (2006 –2010): Provided women in the shelter with required amenities.

 15. Member Child to Child Network of Botswana (2005 –2009): Helped the children by providing them needed support.

 16. Panwar Vani Foundation, Meerut University, India (Sponsored a Master’s student for his Law Degree, on 10.8.2010-9.8.2012).

 17. Through UNICEF project (donated 200 mosquito nets in Maun in 2009).

18.  American Women International Association (1989 -2004):  As a very active member of American Women International Association (AWIA), an International Charity Organisation, I served the community dedicatedly through this platform in several ways for 15 years for example, raised funds for several needy people in different organisations including Ramotswa hospital, Mochudi Eye clinic, Molepolole orphan children and Cheshire Foundation.

 -    Vice President of American Women International Association (1993 -1995): During this period organised various guest speakers for the community and actively helped needy people in Botswana by various charities.

 19.  Volunteer at UNICEF to classify all the information resources for an easy information retrieval, Gaborone (June - July 1998).

 20.  Volunteer at UNICEF to create an inventory of all UNICEF information resources and categorise them according to the various divisions at UNICEF, Gaborone (August - September 1997).

7. DLIS Taskforce to Review the Delivery/Conduct of Research and Project Courses (BIM 402, LIS 408 AND BIM400):  Served on the committee and submitted the final report on 7th December 2015.

Curriculum development (2008 – to date): Provided supportive role in the department in designing and restructuring of diploma and degree programs to introduce a new program BIKM to improve the quality of academic programmes, which has been approved by the senate to start from the coming academic year in August 2017.

 9. Team Leader of DLIS Task-Force for DLIS Staffing Plan (2013-2016): Submitted the final Plan on 17 June 2014.

 10.  Mentored junior colleagues: During 2010-2012, I worked with Mr J. C. Renken and Mr K. J. Bwalya to enhance their professional development.

 11.  Funding to University: I had served on “Rothschild Family Foundation Project”, titled, “A Situational Analysis of the Structure, Services, and the Work Environment of the BNLS” (16.6.2009-28.6.2010). From this project University of Botswana got funding of P 90, 000.000.

 12. DLIS Representative, Faculty Research & Publication Committee (FRPC) (June 2010 – to date):  During this period reviewed 25 research funding proposals from the FRPC and based on the review made recommendations.  

 13. Promoting good image of the University:  Read 31 papers (21 published in conference proceedings and 10 unpublished Conference presentations) in national and international conferences promoting the good image of University of Botswana.

 14. Chair, DLIS Research Committee since (June 2010 – to date): Chair meetings to consider DLIS staff applications for conference funding and make recommendations. Started “DLIS Seminar Series” in October 2015 and organized 2 seminars on 12.10.2015 and 9.11.2015.

 15. Chaired, DLIS Departmental Handbook Committee (2013-2014) and submitted DLIS “Departmental Handbook for academic year (2013-2014)” in December 2013.

 16. Represented UB library on UB Digital Scholarship Task Group (August 2007-29 April 2008): Prepared UB library report for the Task Group report, contributed through various reviews and recommendations for the Task Group report, conducted surveys and interviews as part of Digital Scholarship Task Group.
